Our process follows a multi-seasonal installation sporcess (approach to installation)
Many projects fail by trying to install too much, too fast, beyond the capabilities of a sites maintenance potential.
We design our installations for maximum transformation with minimal disturbance. For most sites, the best process is to install the largest specimen first, then allow them 1-2 years to establish, before weaving in herbaceous understory support plants.
We begin with the largest trees first, install smaller shrubs second, and then cultivate a rich layer of herbs and wildflowers within the full established woody plants, that have since begun to condition the soil for herbaceous plants.
Different plant require different management and upkeep during their first years. It is unrealistic in most cases to fulfill a varieties of different maintenance needs for different plants layered together all at once. Instead, we keep it simple, allowing the first phase to simply be mowed after unwanted plants are cleared and longterm trees are installed. The soil is slowly conditioned to make way for the second and third wave of plants, increasing the overall survival of the plants, reducing the management needs, saving you time, money and headache, will increasing the ease and survival of each plant. We employ, patient, winning strategies, for graceful, impactful., lasting, successful transformations.
